MARIA DIANA CONTEMPORARY JEWELS
| “I am interested in everything related to art and creativity. I have chosen jewelry as the field of my artistic research because I like to think that these small artistic works can easily travel and reach so many people” Maria Diana began her artistic journey by attending the studio of contemporary artist Maria Lai and mainly acquired artistic sensibility from her. The education was completed with a degree in architecture while general and specific artistic techniques on ceramic materials were then deepened through numerous master classes, in different places in Italy and recently she approached the traditional goldsmith technique and the lost wax technique. Over the years her jewelry has been exhibited in group shows, art galleries and museums such as the V&A Museum in London, the Mad Museum in New York and the Norton Museum in West Palm Beach. Her jewelry is for sale in stores around the world The main material used in Maria Diana’s work is porcelain colored with oxides such as cobalt, iron, and manganese or left in its natural white. The porcelain is worked entirely by hand in different shapes and with different textures, then fired in special high-temperature kilns at 1200/1300 degrees. The artifacts after firing and glazing can then be decorated with precious metals (gold lustres or platinum) and fired again at about 750 degrees. The uniqueness of Maria Diana’s works lies in the organic or geometric textures and the mixing with other materials (bronze, silver, leather, rubber) and other technologies (lost-wax casting, laser engraving, 3D printing) |
