Francesco Scoppola, architetto, specializzato in pianificazione urbanistica, dal 1995 ha insegnato e insegna a contratto storia, tutela e restauro come titolare di cattedra ad Arezzo (Lettere, Università di Siena), Architettura (Roma Sapienza), Ingegneria (Perugia), L’Aquila (Lateranense). È stato progettista e direttore dei lavori in oltre cento cantieri di restauro. È stato dirigente generale del Ministero per i beni e le attività culturali dal 1996, incaricato per il Giubileo del 2000. Ha operato in Italia (in Toscana, Marche, Molise, Umbria, Abruzzo, Lazio, per la Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri anche per la Campania) e in varie occasioni all’estero. Dal 2014 al 2016 è stato direttore generale belle arti e paesaggio, direttore del Bollettino d’arte. Dal 2016 al 2019 è stato direttore generale educazione e ricerca. Ha diretto ad interim diversi istituti tra i quali l’Istituto Centrale del Restauro. Consigliere della Fondazione Besso. Commissario IRVIT. E’ autore di numerose pubblicazioni ed articoli.
